I would like to thank Greg Jones with Mulkey Engineers and Consultants for choosing SouthWood to do their signage for their new facility on Independence Blvd. I met Greg at only my 3rd CREW luncheon where he mentioned that they would be needing a sign in the near future. I am looking forward to developing mutually rewarding business relationships with Mulkey and all the other wonderful CREW people I've met.

While attending the Hornet's Nest Girl Scout's Women of Distinction lunch as Cindy Wolfe's guest, I met one of her Rotary contacts, Myra Johnston, who runs a new non-profit. Through the connection that Cindy provided, I was able to find something gratifying for my 16 year old daughter Joanne to do while on summer break - she is volunteering for Myra this summer and the plan is to continue through the school year as Myra needs assistance. Thanks goes to Cindy Wolfe for setting up a situation wherein this could happen. The power of CREW Charlotte!

Andrea Hayden (PBS&J) and I are working together on the Kanawha mixed use project in York County. She's doing the site work and Kimley-Horn is doing the transportation work. At a recent luncheon, I had the opportunity to meet one of our clients on the project face-to-face, who happened to be sitting at our table. Well, okay... she 'happened' to be sitting at our table because Andrea had brought her as a guest from the Triangle area. Thanks Andrea- that's good stuff.

This note was sent to me following City In Pink by a client of mine, whose company is a memner of CREW in Florida, and participated by lighting the Water Tower at the Desing Center in pink:

Meredith,
I think the "story" of how this all evolved is a "classic" CREW network story...........

You & Margaret Martin tell me about this CREW "Pink City" campaign.
We decide to light the tower at the Design Center & get 2 bids....one bid
is bulbs for $2,094 and one is for Gel Covers" for $626.00. We decided to go with the lower cost BUT DONATE THE DIFFERENCE DIRECTLY TO KOMEN/CHARLOTTE. Design Center
Carolinas LLC was able to make the DONATION TO KOMEN FOR $1,500.

Side note: we donated in the name of one of our Ram employees who is a
BC Survivor..... AND the vendor firm we hired to do the tower lights is also a member of CREW (Initial Tropical Plants). WIN, WIN, WIN

MAKES YOU FEEL SOOOOO GOOD !

Please share this if you think it will be of help.

Toni

CREW Charlotte Member Kim Kendall with The Staubach Company recently inquired with Sarah Funkhouser and arranged the escrow and title of a purchase of a small commercial building on West 30th Street in NODA for $601,000.00 by Onex, Inc. which was doing a 1031 exchange. Sarah Funkhouser, Chicago Title Insurance Company referred the deal to Cheryl Steele, Horack, Talley Pharr & Lowdes to close the deal.

Nancy Olah (Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP) was recently engaged by a Canadian company to handle the ILSA registration for a 643 unit condominium project in downtown Seattle, Washington. Although registrations under Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act are national in scope, this was the first time that Nancy has handled a project outside of the Carolinas from a CREW Network referral. The referral came from CREW Portland member, Susan C. Glen, a partner at the law firm, Dunn Carney Allen Higgins & Tongue LLP. Susan is the current President of CREW Portland. Nancy met Susan a number of years ago at a CREW Network Council meeting, and has kept in touch with her as a result of attending CREW Conventions and Council meetings.

It was at the November CREW Charlotte luncheon, when Ann Vano (Centdev Properties) leaned over to Amy Massey (Kimley-Horn) to discuss a potential opportunity to work together on a new development in Fayetteville, NC. Centdev needed help with due diligence and civil engineering for their four-acre site, noting unique stormwater detention challenges. Kimley-Horn is now working with Centdev in the due diligence process. Thank you Ann for giving Kimley-Horn the opportunity to help! Centdev and Kimley-Horn are also working together on a shopping center development in Fort Mill, SC where Amy is helping out with South Carolina Department of Transportation permitting and with modification of an existing traffic signal to accommodate the new development project.
